With their debut full-length album "Mother Culture" having hit the streets on Dark Essence Records last month, Norwegian Blackgazers AVAST have today premiered a video for a track from the album.
About the track itself, the band had this to say:
"The World Belongs to Man" is the contemporary story of humankind and reflects where we find ourselves today, as we begin to realise that our way of life is slowly killing the planet. The song also express anger and frustration at not being able to stop this process, knowing that to be able to do so would require such radical political, economic and cultural changes that certain powerful people would lose both money and power in the process."
Hailing from Stavanger, Norway, AVAST consists of Hans Olaf Myrvang (AGENDA) on bass and vocals, Trond Salte (AGENDA), Ørjan Lund (NAG) on guitars, and Stian Steensnæs (LIK) on drums. Together they fuse the aesthetics of black metal with the atmospherics of post-rock in order to create a soundscape that is both breathtaking and mesmerizing, and whose lyrical themes are not centered around the usual black metal topics, but tend more towards a philosophical and poetical take on social and environmental issues.
AVAST will be celebrating the release of "Mother Nature" and rounding off the year with two shows in Norway:
23 Nov: Victoria Pub and Cafe, Bergen
24 Nov: Vaterland, Oslo
Looking ahead to 2019 AVAST have already been confirmed to appear at Trondheim Calling in January and the Inferno Metal Festival in Oslo in April.
