Heart To Mouth Tour In Toronto With Lauren Ruth Ward & LP - CONCERT REVIEW

Written and Photographed by: Lucas Morra

Music is so powerful and seeing an artist perform for the first time is always such a rush. I had the pleasure of photographing Lauren Ruth Ward and LP at The Danforth Music Hall during LP’s Heart to Mouth tour.

Lauren Ruth Ward kicked off the evening. Typically, Lauren plays with a full band but the sold out Danforth was blessed with a sweet 2-piece sound that warmed the soul. The crowd couldn’t help but tap their foot to Eduardo’s side kick, as could I, especially during “Sheet Stains”. Hearing the songs stripped down gave me a better sense of the story she tells and a greater appreciation for her powerful and dynamic vocals. This “old soul” just has a good time on stage and the fans replicate her energy.

Laura Pergolizzi, or more commonly known as LP absolutely blew Toronto away with a unique yet impeccable live set. I knew we were in for a treat after listening to her newest release, “Heart to Mouth” but the studio does not justify what the experience was actually like; her voice is one of a higher being. It’s always hard to describe emotions, especially with the volume and variety that each song brought forth. I came to this show not knowing much about LP but left a die-hard fan. If you haven’t had the chance to experience LP live, you are missing out on a pure, genuine connection with a truly amazing musician.
